The population of World of Warcraft is growing exponentially. Everyday hundreds of people log in to an adventure in Azeroth and the Outlands. No matter where you find yourself in the world of WoW, you will eventually run into a city.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve chosen to fly the noble colors of the Alliance, or side with the war hungry Horde, there are refuges for you scattered across the map. Inside these cities you will find vendors offering goods, inns offering rested ‘xp’, food and drink, class trainers ready to teach you new talents or skills, members of factions seeking brave adventurers to take on their quests, and auction houses where players all gather to buy and sell the goods they gathered.
Yes, there are all wonderful things to have available to you in your city, but there is an unfortunate side to your city as well- trade chat.
What was originally supposed to be a chat channel specifically for buying and selling of goods, has turned into the most annoying of Blizzards creations. People from all classes and races have taken it upon themselves to fill the once respectable trade chat channel with immature conversations, political arguments, filthy joke competitions and illegal spam messages.
The people who still try to use the trade channel to actually trade are in a losing battle due to the fact that many people choose to ignore the trade chat channel altogether. If you really want to sell something, your best bet is to ‘yell’.
For those who are heroically trying to get the trade chat channel back to the way it’s supposed to be, their battle is far from over. Too many people choose to abuse the trade chat so many others choose to let it fall by the way side.
Come on Blizzard. Get a clue! Either filter it better or shut it down completely. The city dwellers of World of Warcraft are crying out for justice.
